In the fall of 2018, we decided to invest in a major upgrade to our facilities. With the original part of the building being constructed in the 1950’s, additions were included in the 1960’s and 1970’s. It was time. Our new facilities will make Scandia Honey one of the greatest beekeeping operations in the world! […]
For the summer of 2018, one of our main goals was to finally tackle one of the most beautiful hikes in the world – Waterton’s Crypt Lake. Well…it wasn’t easy, but we did it (and beautiful it was)! We had a mini-soccer tournament (which Fernando won) and enjoyed an evening of bowling (which Rory won). […]
For this summer, we didn’t stop. Besides making sure that our bees were awesome, we had tons of other things to keep us busy. We volunteered to plant a couple hundred trees at our community park and then helped organize and celebrate the hamlet of Scandia’s 100 birthday party! We went water sliding in Medicine […]
A busy summer to say the least! We hiked up to Chester Lake in Kananaskis (which was beautiful). We celebrated some milestone anniversaries. We even spent a couple of nights in Canmore. Bees looked great all summer and kept us hopping. That`s all right though…we still managed to kick back with some barbeques and campfires.
In the summer of 2015, we had tons of fun (but, worked hard too!)! Let’s see…we learned how to play beer pong, we roasted a pig, we camped on the Red Deer river and then tubed down it, and we even went on a guided tour of Head Smashed In Buffalo Jump! Weather couldn’t have […]
In 2014, we finally were able to get serious about a back country camping trip. We all hiked 8 km’s in (almost 4 hours!) and set up camp at “The Forks” in Kananaskis Country. A great time!
After talking about it for over 10 years, in 2014 we finally decided to renovate our mechanic’s shop.
In the late fall of 2013, Scandia Honey purchased the town’s old grocery store and post office. The plan is to renovate it into staff accommodations.
